okay, so I was looking at the web last night and saw that my idea to use the seishun 18 kippu to travel the very long distances between major cities and within major cities has been foiled.
this should give you the 411.
drats! foiled again!
apparently they have three windows a year in which they let you buy them. lame. lame. stupid. dumb. and the week before I get there is the cutoff date to use the ticket and three weeks after i leave, theyre gonna open it back up again.
so whats the big deal? i guess it really isnt too big of a deal, it just means I will have to find some way to get from city to city without paying the huge train ticket price.
bikes? hitchhiking? wait, no, i havent survived, rape and death free, in this country for 21 years just to get killed in another one while being there for two months.
if anyone has any alternative suggestions, now would be the time.
and in other news, i was also given the idea by derek z to live in internet cafes while im there. its such a good idea and its become such a big freakin deal that they have even done news stories about it.
for serious, check it out...

15 or 25 a night? That's way better than the love hotels... But how many cafes let you stay over night? And which ones suck?
ReplyDeleteBikes could get you around pretty good. I would actually suggest getting one of the cheap 100-200$ mini fold up bikes. They're pretty comfy and work really well for the price. Outside of that, I really don't know how you would avoid a big train ticket, unless you can coax people you just met into giving you rides.
dude that is pretty tight. I agree with the Z man, those internet cafes will really help you. To move from one city to the next you can look into bikes or even rides from members in that area. I am sure they wont mind too much to drive you to the next city close by, considering the distance ofcourse.
ReplyDeleteHey! Sleeping in an internet cafe sounds really cool, but you should probably find out if there is a time by which it might fill up. Learn a lesson from Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness. :) Don't want you to wind up sleeping on the street!
ReplyDeleteBut I'm really excited to see all of the stuff from your adventure. I am so jealous! Oh, BTW, I met a guy who said he served in your mission and knew you. His name is Jason Moore.
Later!
